Students in the upper years of Junior School are curious, capable and increasingly aware of the world around them.
Years 3 to 6 are a time when students continue to build strong foundations for learning while developing greater independence, confidence and responsibility in their learning.
Our teaching and learning programs nurture this development by combining explicit teaching with inquiry-based learning that encourages students to ask questions, explore concepts and make connections across subjects.
The Victorian Curriculum underpins all learning areas and supports students to build knowledge, skills and personal capabilities in a meaningful and engaging way.
Our experienced educators take a personalised approach to each student’s learning. They understand individual strengths and needs, and design learning experiences that are responsive, inclusive and challenging. Classrooms are flexible and collaborative spaces where students are encouraged to take initiative, share ideas and learn from one another.
From Year 3 onwards, students are provided with their own laptop, enabling them to further develop their digital literacy and to confidently use technology to research, collaborate and create across the curriculum.
Learning outside the classroom is also an important part of our Years 3 to 6 program. Students participate in a series of school camps that foster teamwork, resilience and leadership. These experiences support classroom learning and include opportunities to visit cultural and historic landmarks such as Parliament House and the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), as well as participating in outdoor challenges that encourage self-reliance and confidence.
In Year 6, students are supported to take on leadership roles and model the school’s values of Respect, Integrity, Inclusion and Excellence. They are guided to reflect on their learning journey and to prepare for the transition to Senior School with optimism, self-belief and a strong sense of community connection.
At Casey Grammar School, we recognise the importance of these years in shaping confident, compassionate and capable learners who are ready to take their next steps in learning and life.
