Our Junior School Science program encourages students to wonder, question and explore the world around them.
Our program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and understanding needed to develop informed scientific perspectives.
Science learning is delivered through a combination of dedicated stand-alone lessons and Inquiry-based units.
In classroom lessons, students engage directly with the key strands of the curriculum:
- Science Understanding
- Science as a Human Endeavour
- Science Inquiry Skills
These lessons offer hands-on, focused exploration of Biological, Chemical, Earth and Space, and Physical Sciences, supported by critical and creative thinking.
In addition, many science concepts are embedded within our broader Inquiry Learning units, allowing students to investigate scientific ideas in depth through integrated, student-driven exploration. This dual approach ensures that students experience both structured skill development and the freedom to pursue their curiosity through real-world investigations.
These approaches ensure students plan, experiment, and reflect. This not only builds scientific knowledge, but also the skills needed to become thoughtful, informed global citizens.
