Library

The Casey Grammar Library is part of a communal Learning Centre.

It encourages students to engage with books and foster a life-long love of reading. Books nurture a child’s imagination to exciting adventures and help deepen their understanding of the world around them.

In the Learning Centre, they learn how to access a variety of library resources. Throughout the year, unique opportunities are provided for children to ignite their passion for Literature. Students are encouraged to let their curiosity guide deeper exploration of topics.

Through effective and targeted skills sessions in research and critical thinking, using the Research Skills Development Framework, students navigate both hard copy and electronic resources and use skills learnt to evaluate the credibility and validity of sources, and how to incorporate their new knowledge into assignments and conversations.

Visits to the school by well-known authors and illustrators inspire our students to reflect on their own storytelling skills and motivate them to explore new books and genres.

The excitement of Book Week and the annual Book Fair are also important events that promote and celebrate the joy of reading.  Students can participate in competitions, incursions, writing programs and dress up as favourite characters from new and old stories.

The library is also a gathering place, which students enjoy at lunchtimes as well as before and after school. Students can complete work, access resources, create Lego masterpieces, play board games, engage in Art activities, use the makerspaces and of course, borrow and read a favourite book.

Our Learning Centre is a hub of activity, an inviting and engaging meeting place.
