NAPLAN

Our Year 3 and 5 students approached NAPLAN with focus and determination. Their teachers ensured students felt well prepared and supported, helping to build confidence and providing a sense of reassurance. We are proud of the calm and positive approach students demonstrated, showing persistence and a strong commitment to doing their best in all assessments.

Harmony Week

We also celebrated Harmony Week, culminating in a joyful Cultural Dress Day. It was wonderful to see students proudly representing their backgrounds and sharing in the rich diversity of our community.

The celebrations included our Foundation–2 Parade, where students showcased their cultural attire, and energetic Year 3–6 dancing performances, which brought colour, rhythm and excitement to the day.

I’d like to sincerely thank Mrs Riviere-Pendle for almost single handedly organising and running each of our Harmony Week events.

Beach Program

Our Year 6 students enjoyed a fantastic Beach Program at Mornington Beach, spending two full days participating in a range of activities that built confidence, teamwork and an appreciation for the coastal environment. It was a valuable and memorable experience for all involved. Many thanks to Mr Byrne Nelson, Mrs Khvorostin, Mrs Murray, Mrs Dunn, Mr Benham and Mrs Badar.

Swimming Carnival

Students also represented the school with enthusiasm at the Junior School Divisional Swimming Carnival. Their determination and support for one another were commendable, and we congratulate all participants on their efforts. Thanks to Ms Roffey, Mr Elliott and Mrs Willett for attending the carnival.

4H Assembly

A highlight of the past fortnight was the 4H assembly, which focused on the message of Harmony Week.

Students shared the idea that we all belong to different groups: our families, cultures, school, sporting teams, friendships and communities. And while we may be different, we are also the same in many ways.

Their thoughtful presentation celebrated diversity and reinforced the importance of inclusion and belonging within our school.

Congratulations to Mrs Harvie and her talented 4H students. At the conclusion of the assembly, we enjoyed a wonderful cultural dance by a group of Year 12 students. It was certainly a fitting end to our Harmony Week assembly.

Thank you to our students and staff for your energy and commitment in making these experiences so meaningful.

Leaver House Meeting: Years 3 – 6

Our very first Leaver House Meeting for the year brought wonderful energy. We commenced with some fun “getting to know you” activities using playing cards, which helped students mix, mingle and learn something new about each other.

Our Year 3 students were then presented with Leaver badges and certificates, which was an exciting milestone, as they officially joined the Year 3 – 6 House community.

A big thank you to our new House Captains, Abheek M 6M and Myra I 6M, who shared their enthusiasm and vision for the year ahead. A big thank you also to our generous school community for supporting our ‘Treat Yourself – Lift Someone Else’ fundraiser.

All money raised will go towards purchasing a Wellbeing Instrument for our playground.

Exploring Outdoors in our Local Community

Year 1 and 2 students recently visited Cruden Farm in Langwarrin, where they had a fantastic day exploring and playing. Guided by Narelle from Nature Kids, they discovered the history and significance of the land, wandered through the beautiful gardens and enjoyed playing in the open spaces. Students also enthusiastically engaged in nature play activities.

The excursion provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature, learn outdoors, and spend time together. A big thank you to our dedicated teachers, learning assistants, and parent helpers who made these excursions possible.

Your family might like to visit Cruden Farm and enjoy one of the most beautiful gardens in our local area. It offers wide open spaces and stunning seasonal gardens, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing walk, or time exploring nature together.

Just around the corner is Langwarrin Flora and Fauna Reserve, which features many walking tracks and wonderful nature play opportunities for children.

Foundation students will take part in a ‘Morning Outdoors’ next week, where they will explore our school grounds.

Our next Early Years nature excursions will take place in Term 2. It is a good idea to think about buying gumboots, if you don’t already have a pair.

We look forward to many more fun outdoor experiences!
