Celebrating Learning and Connection

It has been a very busy fortnight in the Junior School, with many opportunities to gather as a community and celebrate learning.

Thank you to the parents who attended our recent Parent Information Evening. Your presence and partnership make a significant difference to your child’s learning journey. These evenings provide valuable insight into classroom programs, expectations and routines.

We are grateful for the support shown by our families. I would also like to sincerely thank our classroom teachers for giving up their evening to prepare and present. Their dedication and professionalism ensure that our families feel informed, confident and connected to the year ahead.

A special thank you to our PFC for hosting our recent Foundation Welcome BBQ. It was a relaxed and joyful evening that provided our newest families with a warm introduction to the Casey Grammar School community. Events such as these reflect the strength of our partnership between home and school.

We also warmly thank our new Head of Early Years, Miss Bridgette Reale, for her leadership and support in ensuring our Foundation students and families felt settled and welcomed as their thirteen-year Casey Grammar School educational journey begins.

Our Year 6 students recently returned from their Canberra Camp, and what an incredible experience it was. The camp provided rich opportunities for learning beyond the classroom, particularly in deepening students’ understanding of Australian democracy, history and citizenship.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our staff who generously gave their time to attend camp and support our students throughout the experience. Camps require significant preparation and commitment, and we are grateful for their care, energy and dedication. Thank you to Mrs Khvorostin, Mrs Murray, Mrs Dunn, Mr Byrne-Nelson, Mrs Badar, Mr Benham, Mrs Saleeba and Dr Jacob. We are very grateful to you all.

Finally, we recently held our Year 6 Commissioning Service – a significant and meaningful milestone in the life of our school. This special occasion formally recognised our Year 6 students as leaders of the Junior School and affirmed the responsibility they carry within our community.

We are incredibly proud of the way they are already modelling responsibility, service and strong school spirit. It was wonderful to share this moment with so many parents and families, whose presence made the occasion even more special.

Canberra Camp

Our Year 6 students had a fantastic start to their Canberra Camp, departing school bright and early at 5:30am on Monday morning and diving straight into a busy and exciting itinerary. The days were full of hands-on learning and exploration, with students enjoying visits to Questacon and the Australian Institute of Sport, where curiosity, teamwork and plenty of enthusiasm were on display.

A major focus of the camp was learning about Australia’s system of government, democracy and national history. Students gained valuable insights through visits to the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House, Government House, New Parliament House and the National Capital Authority. These experiences deepened their understanding of the voting process and how our country is governed.

Students also explored Australia’s rich history, and significant people and events, at the Royal Australian Mint, the National Museum of Australia, the Australian War Memorial, and during the Anzac Parade tour.

After busy days of learning, students enjoyed winding down together with a movie night and a trivia night at camp, building friendships and creating lasting memories. It was a wonderful experience combining education, independence and fun, and the students should be proud of the way they represented Casey Grammar School.
