August 3, 2026 – Edition 9
It has been a pleasure to welcome everyone back over the last two weeks. We hope that students have returned to school rested and keen to apply themselves to their learning.
Battery Blitz
Students in Years 3-10 are being encouraged to bring in household batteries for collection during this term as part of the City of Casey School Battery Blitz. This program is designed to encourage battery recycling and raise awareness about the dangers of putting used batteries in landfill through a competition in schools.
Batteries placed in kerbside bins or hard waste can cause fires in collection trucks and waste facilities. Recycling them through an approved collection point helps recover valuable materials and reduces this risk.
Year 3-6 classes have a tub in their classroom to accept batteries from home, and Year 7-10 students can bring their batteries to Wellbeing to be recycled. The groups who collect the most batteries will enjoy a pizza lunch as a prize.
Supporting the Leukaemia Foundation
Our Year 12 students and staff are proud to be supporting the Leukaemia Foundation through the World’s Greatest Shave, raising vital funds for Australians affected by blood cancer. As part of this student-led initiative, a number of students and staff have committed to shaving or cutting their hair, with the World’s Greatest Shave event taking place at school on Friday, 4 September.

Uniform Reminder
A reminder that students are required to wear their blazers to and from school each day. We have noticed that some students are carrying their blazers or leaving them at home or in their lockers. We would appreciate families supporting students to meet this uniform expectation.
Student Leadership
Just over 30 Year 10 and Year 11 students attended our second Student Leadership Seminar after school on Monday, 27 July. I was impressed with the level of reflection and engagement from these aspiring leaders.
Applications for 2027 Senior School Leadership positions are now open and close on Monday, 10 August. Students in Year 10 and 11 are invited to apply for leadership positions that suit their interests and strengths.
