From the Principal
December 3, 2025 – Edition 16
Our school community has much to celebrate and appreciate as we approach the end of the year. Through concerts, exhibitions, orientation days and shared chapel moments, students and staff have generously given their energy and care.
Social Media Restrictions for People Under 16
With the social media restrictions commencing soon, I thought this article might help students prepare. As parents, you can also help your children by discussing the restrictions and planning together ways to fill the social media void during the school holiday period.
Celebrations
Last week’s Summer Concert was a joyous celebration of the growth of our music students. Congratulations to all involved and thank you to our wonderful Performing Arts Department who teach and support our students as they work towards fulfilling their musical potential.
I hope you had the opportunity to drop into our Senior School Art Show, held in the foyer of the Performing Arts Centre (PAC). It was a showcase of exceptional art produced by our senior students throughout the year. A selection of outstanding pieces was on display across Visual Arts, Product Design (Wood) and Graphic Design. Congratulations to all students who contributed their work. I am so grateful to the Art Department for their tireless work in encouraging and inspiring our next generation of artists.
In the Senior School, early commencement of 2026 classes has begun. For our Year 12 students, this began with a leadership retreat that included a variety of guest speakers and activities to prepare them for their role as leaders of the school.
Last Friday was an exciting day for our incoming Year 7 students, who undertook a range of Orientation Day activities. I am grateful to Mr Ben Peake (Head of Year 7) and Mrs Monique Riviere-Pendle (Transition Coordinator) for coordinating successful orientation events over the past few months to ensure students feel comfortable and ready to learn as they begin their Senior School journey.
Upcoming Events
The coming week will be filled with important end-of-year activities. Our Year 6 students are looking forward to their excursion to Gumbuya World, where they will celebrate the end of Year 6 together. Excitement is also building for the Year 6 Graduation ceremony being held on Monday, 8 December.
We are all looking forward to our Christmas Chapels, which will be held in both Junior School and Senior School this week.
The Junior School end-of-year Teachers’ Assembly is always a crowd favourite. Junior School students will be wondering which characters from movies, TV shows, cartoons and music will grace the stage this year. The staff are looking forward to performing (although they are a bit nervous too) in the last week of school.
Staffing
As we say goodbye to the 2025 school year, we also bid a sad farewell to staff who are moving on next year. We wish them all the best in their next chapters.
Farewell to Ms Isabelle Williams, Ms Aleisha Sutherland, Mrs Fiona Laidlaw, Ms Vanessa Hodgkiss, Ms Rachael Kettle, Mrs Helen Lacey, Mr Shaldon Moroney, Mrs Rebecca Fernandes and Mr Zach Cuthbert.
Mrs Khatera Shakeri has commenced her maternity leave, and we are looking forward to hearing news of the birth of her second child.
We are also saying farewell to our wonderful maintenance man, Mr Jeff Morgan. Jeff has been a hard worker in the school for many years. We will miss him enormously and wish him all the best in his retirement.
