Careers and Pathways Week – Year 10

Toward the end of Term 1, Year 10 students participated in Careers and Pathways Week.

The purpose of this week was for students to conduct research into future career pathways by visiting tertiary providers, and to develop their enterprise skills in preparation for 2026 and beyond. Students have shared their experience of the week below.

During Careers and Pathways Week, we gained insight into university and life after VCE. We also learnt about the structure of VCE at Casey Grammar School.

Something I really enjoyed was going to the universities, which were Monash University and the University of Melbourne. It was really interesting because it gave me some clarity on what university life will be like.

My favourite day was at the University of Melbourne, because we were given a tour of the beautiful campus before a long lunch break. The break was a great opportunity to debrief with my friends and compare this to our Monash experience.

I learnt a lot about the courses, the requirements, what university is like, and that university is also a great place to make new friends and have new experiences. I also learnt more about VCE and I got some amazing and helpful advice like the importance of having a good work/life balance, and building up good study habits as early as possible.

The week was really helpful to my future decisions, because I was shown a variety of pathways and options available to me. It’s definitely made me more excited for university!

During Careers and Pathways Week, there were many great experiences. Some aspects I particularly enjoyed were going to Melbourne University and Monash University. It was great to explore the campus and get an insight into what a day in the life of a university student looks like.

My favorite day of Careers and Pathways Week was going to Monash University and exploring the campus.

I learnt more about the requirements for the plumbing trade, which is the career I wanted to explore. I gained insight into VCE Subjects and VET and the whole week helped give me a clearer view of my career path.
