Careers
December 3, 2025 – Edition 16
It is hard to believe this is the last newsletter for 2025. What a year it has been!
During Term 1 and Term 2, we successfully delivered the Year 10 Careers and Pathways Week, the Subject Selection Expo and National Careers Week. Our Year 12 cohort also explored career and course pathways by attending the Victorian Careers Expo.
Term 3 (and early Term 4) was incredibly busy for our Year 12 students. In addition to their academic pursuits, students prepared applications for the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) for their 2026 endeavours, with a significant number receiving early offers for 2026 tertiary courses. What a wonderful achievement.
As I reflect on the year that was, I feel privileged to have worked with the students of Casey Grammar School. The potential within our students is boundless and I cannot wait to support our community as they navigate their education and career journeys.
Year 9 Casey Challenge “Pursuit of Happyness”
In the final careers class for the Casey Challenge program, we screened the movie The Pursuit of Happyness. The film, a 2006 biographical drama starring Will Smith as Chris Gardner, explores career resilience through Gardner’s perseverance and eventual success.
We will continue to unpack this theme in 2026 as our current Year 9 students complete the Year 10 Career Discovery Program subject.
In this subject, students further explore and develop their understanding of career development, including:
- Using increased self-knowledge and understanding of education and training requirements to inform career pathway decisions (for example, results of Morrisby Profile testing)
- Increasing understanding of the skills employers are seeking and a considered plan to develop these skills
- Investigating how national and global economic, social, technological and environmental changes affect the type and availability of work, and examining trends that may impact their chosen pathway
- Focusing on the need to be flexible and the importance of networks to create and make opportunities
