Celebrating Student Success – Work Experience with Victoria Police
In late 2025, Pippa G (Year 12, Reid) had the opportunity to undertake work experience with Victoria Police.
She shares her reflection below:
Last year during the holidays, I was lucky enough to complete work experience with Victoria Police at Frankston Police Station. It was such an eye-opening experience and gave me a real understanding of what police officers do every day.
During the week, I spent time in the watch house, which was one of my favourite parts. It was interesting to see how everything is managed, and how important procedures, responsibility and teamwork are in that environment. I also had the opportunity to visit the Frankston Magistrates’ Court, which helped me understand what happens after someone is charged and how police are involved throughout the legal process.
I also visited Somerville Police Station and was able to go out with Highway Patrol for an hour, which was definitely a highlight for me. I loved being out on the road and seeing how they enforce road laws, respond to situations and interact with the community. It showed me how important quick thinking, confidence and communication skills are in policing.
One of the best parts of the experience was the relationships I built and the stories the officers shared with me. I made connections and friendships with some of the officers, and now when I see them out in the community, it feels really rewarding. It made me realise how connected police are to the communities they serve. Knowing that I could potentially work alongside them one day makes me even more motivated to join Victoria Police in the future.
Overall, this experience confirmed that policing is something I am truly passionate about. I am very grateful for the opportunity, and for all the officers who took the time to guide me, answer my questions and provide such a positive and inspiring experience.
Year 10 Careers and Pathways Week – Save the Date (Week 9 – Term 1)
In Week 9 of Term 1, all Year 10 students will be participating in the week-long Careers and Pathways Week. The purpose of Careers and Pathways Week is for students to research future career pathways by engaging with tertiary providers (universities and TAFE) and industry. Students will also develop their enterprise skills in preparation for 2026 and beyond.
The program complements the work our Year 10s are currently undertaking in the Career Discovery Program (CDP) subject and will support informed subject selection.
Further information will be communicated to students and parents/guardians in the next two weeks.
We are excited to offer our students this opportunity and look forward to sharing updates in due course.
