A Time to Celebrate and a Time to Prepare
As Term 4 begins at Casey Grammar School, we find ourselves in a moment of transition – a time to reflect on what has been and to look ahead to what is yet to come.
For our Year 12 students, the past fortnight has marked the end of a significant chapter in their school journey. We have had a series of ‘lasts’ – the last week, the last class, the last bell, the last time putting on the school uniform.
Last Friday, surrounded by family, friends and teachers, they were celebrated at the Valedictory Assembly and Dinner – two special occasions that honoured their achievements, their growth and their contributions to our school community.
These events were filled with warmth and immense pride. They also served as a reminder that while one chapter is closing, another is just beginning.
Our Year 12 students now turn their focus to their final exams – the last step in their secondary education before they move into the next stage of their lives, whether that be further study, work or new adventures.
But Term 4 is not only about endings. It is also a time of preparation and fresh starts for all students. With final exams approaching and Early Commencement just around the corner, this term offers valuable opportunities to consolidate learning, set new goals and begin laying the foundations for the 2026 school year. It is a time to make the most of every lesson, every conversation and every chance to grow.

Trial Exams and Revision Lectures
During the September school holidays, our Units 3 and 4 students returned to campus for a comprehensive program of revision lectures and trial examinations. Attendance across all sessions was strong, reflecting the students’ commitment to their studies and determination to achieve their personal best.
The revision lectures provided an invaluable opportunity for students to revisit key content areas, clarify complex topics and seek guidance from their teachers. These sessions helped to strengthen understanding and confidence ahead of the trial exams, which replicated formal Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) conditions and expectations.
Trial exams are an essential part of VCE preparation, allowing students to practise time management, test their knowledge under pressure and identify areas for targeted improvement before the final assessments. They also provide teachers with meaningful insights to support students’ progress during the final weeks of the academic year.
We commend all students for their effort, engagement and resilience throughout the holiday program. Their dedication truly reflects our school values of Excellence and Integrity as these students approach the conclusion of their VCE studies.

Humanities Week
Week 1 of Term 4 involved a celebration of Humanities Week in the Senior School. It was fantastic to see so many students and staff enthusiastically taking part in our trivia challenge and GeoGuessr competitions.
The buzz around the Wellbeing Groups showed just how much curiosity and passion there is for subjects like History and Geography. These subjects help us make sense of the world and it is only fitting that we celebrate them with such energy.
Congratulations to Leaver 6 and Madame Morgan for being our Humanities Legends of the week.
Many thanks to our Humanities staff for the week, especially Rebecca Nettleton and Zach Cuthbert for all of their work.

SIS Chess Tournament
On Thursday, 11 September 2025, 12 students from Years 7 to 11 represented Casey Grammar in the SIS Chess Tournament held at St Margaret’s Grammar. The students were split into Junior and Open divisions in which they played 7 rounds of chess against students from 13 local schools.
For some of our students, it was their first time competing in a tournament, and they were a little unsure of what to expect, from finding their way to a board to using a timer. The students soon settled into a day full of chess.
If a player wins a round, they are ranked up against players of equal standing and they move up their position in the room. For three rounds, we had four of our Junior students sitting on the top four tables and Mantej from Year 10 spent a round sitting at the Senior Table 1.
In the end, our Junior team came second overall, with Nathan C (Year 8) individually awarded a medal for third overall.
Nathan was invited to the State Open Final which was held at Xavier College on 9 October 2025. Here he competed against 446 students from over 70 schools. He did extremely well on the day, winning five of the nine rounds.

Year 8 Art – Funky Colourful Shoes
Year 8 Art students from 8A and 8C have been busy creating Funky Colourful Shoes through realistic drawing and imaginative colour design. Their task was to creatively apply vibrant patterns and colour techniques to their shoe illustrations, showcasing individuality and flair.
Each artwork features a watercolour background that expressively enhances the design and brings the composition to life. The final pieces are a bright and dynamic celebration of creativity and style.
