Robocup 2024

August 23, 2024

On Friday, August 9th, our Junior School Robotics team had an amazing time at the Outer Eastern Robocup competition.

Students from Year 4 to Year 6 spent several lunchtimes over the past two terms building and coding soccer-playing robots out of LEGO EV3 components. The competition was an incredible opportunity for students to come together with kids from other schools with a similar love for STEM.

We competed in two events, Simple Simon Soccer and Standard League soccer. Our teams represented the school amazingly, with others noticing our sportsmanship, and the way our students cheered on the opposing team when a goal was scored. They also supported other teams, helping them troubleshoot their robots when things went wrong. I am incredibly proud of all the students who competed on the day.

Congratulations to the winners of Simple Simon, the Soccer Squad, and the comedically named Delusionals for winning Standard League!

As for what’s next after RoboCup? Our Grade 6 Leaders are working on new tech club ideas to carry us through Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes to the end of the year, so watch this space!
