Junior School Report

A Warm Welcome Back

It was lovely to be warmly welcomed back to our wonderful school community after my long service leave.

I enjoyed my European holiday – particularly celebrating my birthday in Greece with many family and friends. I would like to sincerely thank Sandra Torcasio for stepping up so ably to Head of Junior School in my absence. It’s great to be back at my second ‘home’.

Foundation to Year 5 swimming lessons are now well underway. These lessons are important for teaching life-saving skills, improving fitness and building water confidence. They also offer a break from the classroom, boosting teamwork, self-esteem and overall health while helping students stay safe around water. Many thanks to our staff for taking on this big commitment for our students.

Congratulations to our 19 athletes who recently competed at Divisional Athletics. We were proud to have each of you represent Casey Grammar School. Special mention to Shanaya, Mitchell, Sahibb, Snaver, Rugved, Levi, Erlyn and Zara who have made it through to Regional Athletics. Thanks to Mr Byrne-Nelson and Mr Benham for all their efforts on the day.

Last week our Year 3 students enjoyed their exciting excursion to Old Gippstown, where they explored historical buildings and learned about life in the past. They enjoyed hands-on activities like writing with ink pens and visiting the old schoolhouse and general store. The day was fun and educational, helping students understand how people lived long ago.

Congratulations to our Hooptime team who recently represented CGS at Divisional level. Our team represented our school with distinction and played incredibly well, finishing in fourth place. What a great effort! Congratulations to our students and many thanks to Mr Byrne-Nelson and Mr Benham for ensuring the day was such a success.

Our first class assembly for this term was hosted by Year 3B, and it was a wonderful reflection of their Term 3 Forest Edge camp. They highlighted activities like the flying fox, rock wall climbing and team games. It was obvious that the camp helped build confidence, friendships and a sense of adventure in a fun outdoor setting. Their final number, Can’t Stop the Feeling, was a real hit. Bravo to Mrs Brown and her adventurous campers! I must say though, I am still wondering what happened to Dr Jacob’s sock.

As always, our Valedictory celebrations last Friday were a huge success. The assembly showcased the journey of our Class of 2025, and the dinner was a fitting end to their Casey Grammar School education.

It is always a very proud moment for me to see our Foundation students graduate after being in the privileged position of watching their 13-year journey. This year I was fortunate to present certificates to our 23 students who completed their entire education at our school: Jack, Afreen, Jag, Abigail, Ebony, Clementine, Kirra, Jude, Ethan, Avery, Harpa, Jacinta, Jamie, Aaron, Isaiah, Ashton, Julia, Mackenzie, Lilley, Allysha, Abbi, Ashley and Lilly.

A huge congratulations also to Madame Morgan and her team for the stellar job they did to ensure our Valedictory celebrations were such a wonderful success.

I hope to see all our fabulous families at our upcoming Art Show. Here’s to a wonderful final term of 2025!

Junior School Art Show

We are delighted to invite the school community to our Junior School Art Show on Thursday, 23 October 2025, 4:00pm-7:00pm. This much-anticipated event celebrates the imagination, skill and creativity of our young artists from Foundation to Year 6.

This year’s theme, ‘Food, Glorious Food’, has inspired a colourful and joyful array of artworks exploring all things edible and delicious. Visitors can look forward to a stunning visual feast, with each student proudly exhibiting three original pieces created throughout the year.

The exhibition features an exciting range of mediums, including sculpture, drawing, collage, sewing, digital art, weaving and Kinusaiga – a traditional Japanese art form using fabric to create intricate images.

The Art Show is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our Foundation to Year 6 students’ artistic achievements and the creative journey they have undertaken. We warmly invite families, friends and members of our school community to come along, share in the excitement and enjoy this vibrant celebration of creativity.
