Celebrating New Spaces and Strong Partnerships
A highlight of the past fortnight was the official opening of our new Learning Centre. It was wonderful to welcome parents to the event and to see so many students contributing to the occasion, whether as ushers, performers or school leaders sharing thoughtful reflections on the opportunities this new facility will provide for our community.
Thank you to everyone who played a part in making the opening such a memorable moment for the school.
It was also a joy to join our Year 7 students on camp last week and to see them embracing new challenges, building friendships and throwing themselves into every activity with such enthusiasm. My sincere thanks go to the dedicated staff who gave their time, energy and care to make the camp such a success. These experiences simply would not be possible without their commitment.
I would also like to thank all families who attended our recent Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences, both online and in person. Your partnership plays an essential role in supporting student learning, and we appreciate the time you take to engage with teachers and discuss your child’s progress.

Formative Feedback and Learning Behaviours
Last week, a letter was sent to families advising that Formative Feedback and Learning Behaviours are now available on SEQTA for subjects that run for more than six periods per cycle across the two-week timetable. This feedback is designed to provide timely and meaningful insights to support student learning and ongoing improvement.
Each formative comment follows a clear structure to help students understand their progress: where they are currently in their learning, what their next step is and how they can work towards achieving it. Alongside these comments, Learning Behaviours have also been reported to highlight how students are approaching their learning.
The five Learning Behaviours are Organised Learner, Respectful Learner, Independent Learner, Collaborative Learner and Engaged Learner. These behaviours reflect the ways students approach their learning and contribute in the classroom.
We encourage families to read this feedback together at home and to talk with their children about their strengths, areas for growth and next steps. These conversations play an important role in helping students reflect on their learning, develop positive learning habits and take ownership of their progress.

Year 7 Orientation Camp
Last week, our Year 7 students attended Orientation Camp at Mill Valley Ranch in Tynong. It was a perfect opportunity for the year level and staff to get to know one another better while enjoying a variety of activities and experiences. There were plenty of smiles and many fun memories made.
Some of the highlights included the crate climb, canoeing, horse riding, the Amazing Race, Capture the Flag, the low ropes course, a horse training session, a whip-cracking demonstration, the Family Feud game show and a night bushwalk. Students also enjoyed our Western Night, where they dressed in their best western and cowboy outfits and learned some line dancing so they could boot scoot the night away.
Thank you to the staff who attended the camp and helped make it such a wonderful experience for our Year 7 students.

Garden Club
Students have been back in the garden over the past couple of weeks, and the warmer weather has ensured everything is growing well and producing plenty of food. Last Friday, we were able to donate some of our produce to Sikh Volunteers Australia for use in the meals they prepare for people experiencing homelessness.
