Term 1 Recap
It was certainly an action-packed Term 1 for students in the Performing Arts. We enjoyed our fabulous students performing in assemblies, chapels and Harmony Week. We also held our first Performing Arts Information Evening, and a host of Performing Arts excursions to plays and concerts. The term culminated with two big events: the Battle Of The Bands, and the SIS Big Night.
Battle of the Bands
Thank you to our amazing students who performed at our second annual Battle Of The Bands, held in the PAC on 23 March. Three groups took to the stage, presenting material they had practiced and prepared themselves.
All performers invested their hearts and souls and energy into preparation. A big congratulations to each of our performing groups, with the winners being Adrenaline Junkies!
SIS Big Night
The day of 31 March once again saw the combined members of the Southern Independent Schools descend on the Drum Theatre for the final dress and technical rehearsals ahead of the SIS Big Night.
Twelve of the member schools’ students were involved in a range of combined ensembles: String Orchestra, Concert Band, Dance Ensemble, and Choir.
Where a lot of the SIS events are competitive in nature, the Big Night is an opportunity for schools to collaborate on performance items. The four combined ensembles are supported by performance items from each school and this year, for the first time since the pandemic, a finale item involved all performers.
The concert was a fabulous night of entertainment. The audience was treated to performance items of a very high caliber, with the finale item of Joe Cocker’s version of the Beatles song, With A Little Help From My Friends, filling the space with music and wowing the crowd.
Congratulations to all Casey Grammar School performers, including the students in the combined ensembles and our Senior Vocal Ensemble. You worked hard in preparing for this amazing concert!
ANZAC Day
It was a big start to Term 2 as our drumline and Buttigieg Concert Band performed at the Cranbourne ANZAC Service.
This is the first year that performers from Casey Grammar School have been involved in a community ANZAC Service and I’m so proud of their performance, and for the mature way that they conducted themselves on the day.
Our drumline did a sterling job leading the parade along Sladen and High Streets before turning into the square and dismissing the parade. The Buttigieg Concert Band were joined by local community member and singer, Heather Thorns, to present Advance Australia Fair and God Save The King to conclude the service.
Well done to all of our performers!
