Challengers Unite!
At our last assembly, Tony from World Vision spoke about the opportunity for Senior School students to challenge themselves to raise money for people around the world experiencing food insecurity.’
One of the most powerful things he spoke about was the fact that his mother sacrificed herself for him, and that all of us benefit from the sacrifice of others. The 40 Hour Challenges gives students a chance to pass it on and give others an opportunity through their own sacrifice.
We’ve had a fantastic response from a wide range of students ranging from Year 7-12.
Here are some of the challenges our students are setting for themselves:
-
- No talking
- No furniture
- No tech
- 40km bike ride
- 50km running
- 400 shots of basketball
- 100 games of chess
- 40 Acts of Kindness
Leaver 1 are even taking on 40 Acts of Kindness as a Wellbeing group. Around 55 students are currently signing up and will be participating in various fundraising activities.
As part of their fundraising, stalls will be held on Tuesday, 25 August at lunchtime for Senior School students. Further details will be shared with students in the coming week.
The funds go towards things like supplying ‘Plumpy’nut’ to severely malnourished children. Giving a child this nutrient rich sachet three times a day for 6-8 weeks is enough to save their lives.
These are simple things, and just $50, can support a family with basic food for an entire month! Speaking personally, $50 at our local supermarket is lucky to last a couple of days.
This is a fantastic opportunity to come together with compassion for those who are experiencing food insecurity through no fault of their own. There are so many contributing factors including war and conflict, climate change leading to crop failure or poverty.
We look forward to seeing what we can achieve as a school community for this wonderful cause.

Every blessing to your families in the weeks ahead.
