Junior School Report

December 3, 2025 – Edition 15

It’s been another wonderful fortnight as we begin to wrap up the school year. From joyful assemblies to leadership milestones, the Junior School has been rich with learning and community spirit.

Junior School Assemblies

Year 2H’s recent assembly recognised World Children’s Day by celebrating the beauty of our differences through the creative story of crayons and their colours. Just like each crayon brings its own shade, strength and purpose, every child in our school brings unique talents, feelings and perspectives.

The story reminded us that when all colours work together, they create something brighter and more meaningful, just as inclusion helps our community grow stronger. Congratulations to Ms Dunn and her very talented students!

In the Year 3S assembly, the true meaning of Christmas was brought to life through joyful songs and incredible dance routines as the students cleverly recreated the playful story Please Don’t Open This Book. Their performance blended humour, energy and festive spirit, highlighting the warmth, kindness and togetherness that Christmas inspires.

In every cleverly choreographed dance, the students’ enthusiasm shone brightly, making the assembly a memorable celebration of creativity and Christmas cheer. Bravo to Miss Sutherland and her wonderful students!

2026 Leadership Speeches

During our 2026 Leadership speeches, Year 5 students confidently presented during their House Meetings, sharing what leadership means to them and how they hope to lead in Year 6. Next year, every Year 6 student will have the opportunity to be a leader, through their actions, kindness and responsibility, whether or not they hold an official role.

We are incredibly proud of all students for their courage and effort in preparing and delivering their speeches. While not everyone can receive a badge, every student contributes to our school community and each one has the potential to lead and make a positive difference. Sincere thanks to our Year 5 teachers and Heads of House for the roles they played in preparing our students for their speeches.

Moonlit Sanctuary

Our Foundation students enjoyed an exciting excursion to Moonlit Sanctuary last week, where they had the chance to see and learn about a variety of Australian animals up close. Throughout the day, they explored different habitats, listened to engaging talks from keepers and delighted in meeting animals such as pythons, kangaroos, koalas and colourful birds.

The experience helped deepen their understanding of wildlife and conservation while sparking curiosity and wonder about the natural world. It was a memorable adventure filled with learning, discovery and lots of smiles. Many thanks to Ms Hodgkiss, Mrs Laidlaw, Miss Stephenson, Mrs Woocock, Mrs Whitehead and Mrs Simonis for organising and attending this special event!

With Thanks

As our school year comes swiftly to an end, I’d like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to our exceptional, dedicated staff, our ever-supportive families, the wider school community and, most importantly, our students, without whom none of this would be possible.

Wishing our entire school community a safe, festive Christmas break and I look forward to a wonderful 2026 full of learning opportunities, fabulous friendships and much fun.

Year 6 Graduation Preparations Underway

Our Year 6 students are busily preparing for their upcoming graduation and what an exciting time it is! As part of this special milestone, they have been reflecting on the incredible experiences that have shaped their Junior School journey.

From adventures close to home, like visiting the Melbourne Zoo back in Foundation, to exploring further afield during our unforgettable Canberra Camp this year, these memories remind us of just how much they’ve grown.

Graduation is not only a celebration of achievements but also a moment to look forward. Our students are eager to embrace new challenges and adventures in the Senior School, reconnecting with old friends and making new ones along the way. We are so proud of everything they have accomplished and can’t wait to see what the future holds!
