Outdoor & Environmental Studies focuses on the ways humans interact with outdoor environments. ‘Outdoor environments’ include environments that have minimal influence from humans, as well as those environments that have been subject to different levels of human intervention.
Both passive and active outdoor activities provide the means for students to develop experiential knowledge of outdoor environments.
The study also examines the complex interplay between human impacts on outdoor environments and nature’s impact on humans.
A major focus of Outdoor & Environmental Studies is that outdoor environments provide space for connectedness with nature and opportunities for reflection upon the past, present and future.
